Summertime: Keep it Simple

There are so many things to do in the summer; family parties, vacations, weddings, barbeques, swim lessons, work, etc.  How can you keep up?

Here are “The Top Three Things I Do To Keep It Simple This Summer”:

  1. Get Enough Sleep!  Sleep revitalizes, clarifies my thinking and helps keep me at my best.

  1. Eat Fresh, Eat Well and Eat Local!  I try to go to a farmers’ market as often as I can to get fruits and veggies that are straight from the farm.  Not only am I supporting local farmers but I am giving my body the nutrients it needs to cope with all my running around.

  1. Use the Tools in Your Health and Wellness Tool Bag!  Ok, 1 and 2 deal mostly with my physical self but it is imperative that I also take care of the spiritual, emotional and mental parts of me as well.  I use everyday activities and many other tools I have learned to ease my mind, feed and nourish my spirit and allow my emotions to flow in a healthy way.  Each of us has a unique collection in our Health and Wellness Tool Bag.  Here are some of mine:

    1. Reiki: This is one of the gentlest ways for me to cut through everything, get to my heart and immediately begin to relax, heal and let go.

    1. Working with Spirit and Meditation: This is how I “check in” with my higher self and my guides.  It’s kind of like consulting a map when you are on a road trip, not always necessary, but you always feel better knowing that you are on the right path.

    1. Long talks with a good friend

    1. My Hammock: I use a timer to make myself stay still for at least five minutes and let others know I won’t be moving until it beeps!

    1. Having a “night off” from parenting

    1. Gardening

    1. Aromatherapy: a.k.a. “Smelling with a Purpose!”  We ALL use this on a daily basis!  This is why we choose a particular scent cleaner, hand soap, lotion, etc.  If you think that scent doesn’t affect you, here is something to consider…can you continue thinking, talking or doing, without making a comment or having your attention sway a bit, after smelling fresh baked chocolate chip cookies, flowers, or even after driving by a skunk? I know that last one is awful but it makes the point that aromas, whether pleasant or not so pleasant affect us.  I choose to use nice scents!  In my home and my car, I have different scents either in a spray bottle or being diffused so that I am surrounded by great smells that help make me feel great.

    1. Finding Magic and Wonder whenever I can…Lightning Bugs are great for this!  They never fail to get a “Wow” or an “Oooo and Ahhh” from me.  Better yet, watching my kids watch the lightning bugs!

This summer: keep it simple and feel successful creating a Happy, Healthy You.
