Summer stress
Sounds like an oxymoron, like those delicious “jumbo shrimp”.
But stress doesn’t take the summer off, in fact sometimes it “kicks up a notch”!
Here are some tips to stay cool and calm as the temperatures soar:
1. Drink Water- Lots of water. Water makes up over 70% of our bodies. Dehydration is often mistaken for hunger, leading to over eating.
2. Slow down - I know, easy to say, but temperature extremes take a toll on our bodies. Take some time to smell those roses.
3. When in long lines, remember to breathe! Really, it gets more oxygen to the brain and helps you stay calm.
HAS YOUR LIFE BECOME A BALANCING
ACT? ...OR A TUG OF WAR?
DO YOU FEEL LIKE YOU'RE CONSTANTLY RUNNING AGAINST THE TIDE? ARE YOU MORE
FORGETFUL?
Tight
shoulder muscles, upset stomach, headaches, the list goes on and on.
All
of these symptoms are negative reactions to stress.
Researchers estimate that stress contributes to as
many as 80 percent
of all major
illnesses, including cardiovascular disease, cancer,
skin disorders
and infectious ailments of all kinds.
The
reality is that no one can get away from stress.
It
can make you stressed just thinking about it.
And
it’s when we are stressed that we often make the “wrong choices”.
That’s
when our “will power” is the weakest, our confidence the lowest.
Learning
skills to deal with stress can make the difference you need to succeed.
